Cutscene Animations in Walrus Run
View all the cutscenes on
A showcase of the animations featured in the cutscenes. Go to (Visual Development < Cutscene Direction) to learn how I went about making the cutscenes in-engine.
As a Junior animator and a Solo Developer, I decided to take a different approach with this game. Rather than make each animation objectively "good," I wanted to make them as funny as possible. Characters are animated in a very limited, pose-to-pose manner. Characters often blend from pose to pose while their mouths are being animated, in a way that emulates the style of 2D cartoons. There proportions and bones are stretched in unorthodox ways all the time, in a way that's meant to look appealing and add to the comedic tone of the game.
On this page, you can view videos of my personal favorite cutscenes from the game.
